Melanie Jordan is the Policy Director at the Office of Respondent Parents’ Counsel, Colorado. Over the last decade, she has held nearly every advocacy position in the dependency and neglect system, including representation of parents and children at the trial and appellate levels as an RPC and GAL and as a county attorney representing departments of human services. Prior to attending law school, Melanie was a case manager for children in foster care and those aging out of the system. She was selected as the ORPC Appellate Attorney of the Year in 2018. As a parent herself, Melanie understands that parenting is challenging under the best of circumstances and that it is one of our most fundamental rights to raise our children free from unwarranted governmental interference.  

Annsley Van Buskirk

Annsley Van Buskirk has worked in the field of private adoption for nearly twenty years in Florida, and has also worked very closely with the child welfare system. She is an advocate for children and families, and assists foster children gain permanency, through guardianship, reunification, or adoption. As a wife and mother, Annsley understands the importance of family and has a strong desire to help parents ensure that their children are always safe. In addition to being a stay-at-home-mother, she is a consultant on adoption and guardianship related matters and also volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem.

Derrick Peavy began work on the NRSBG in 2018 and lived in seven froster homes from age 5 through adulthood. His background includes web development, business operations, non profit finance and the most important job of all, parenting. Originally from the state of Georgia, he now resides in Oregon.
